My horse was has gotten lethargic, her coat has gotten very long. Even with our best efforts we can’t get her to lose weight. It got me concerned that she could have something wrong with her. She is only 14 years old so I don’t know should I get her tested .

Vet, blood tests. Sounds like PPID (cushings) with the coat but only a vet will know, not an online forum.

They can have both. Cushings ponies usually (but not always) lose topline and look quite poor. EMS don’t usually have long coats. There’s really only one way to find out. Are you sure it’s not just a native winter coat?

being lethargic and hanging on to coat were the first signs of cushings for my mare so i would get yours tested
