I am in the middle of my AS levels, and would love to get some more riding experience before I go to university; as it may put me ahead of others? (Wanting to study equine business management)

I am going to take my first BHS stage in September, hopefully... and join pony club too.

Is it worth advertising or putting notices up to say that I am looking for another horse to school/hack and possibly jump once or twice a week?? and do you get any feedback?

x

yeah definately :) local tack shops, livery yards, riding schools, local EC's, pony club, riding club and freeads would be the best place I'd guess to advertise :)

Have you or anyone else ever had a good response by doing this?

thanks... I will think about what to write lol

Well I would prefer to school as I feel it will help me more..
I would obviously hack if they wanted me to; however feel schooling and jumping will be more worthwhile to me and my degree than hacking :)

I'd just keep it simple and to the point really :) where abouts are you?

maybe something like

'Rider available. Responsible, confident young adult available to ride your horses a couple of days per week. Capable to school, jump and hack, in exchange for stable duties if needed. Preferably within *areas here*. Please call *name* *number* if interested! Many thanks. '

I did it and got many replies, unfortunately none were suitable or by the time some one rang up with a suitable horse Id found one :D Its worth having them up on share websites and local tack shops. Good luck finding a horse x

Thank you :-)
Obviously need to talk to mum first as I have to keep up with my ponys schooling and fitness; and if that means getting up at 5 to lunge or something so beit..

Where are you? Maybe someone on here would be interested if you let us know what area you're in.

Im in Norfolk
If people on here are interested.... please PM, as I can give some more information on my location

Thanks

In that case Berks/Wilts would be a little too far! Oh well, good luck with finding something :)

Yes, absolutely! When I was at University and horseless I put notices up in a couple of local tack shops. One lovely, lovely lady who had 2 horses at home phoned me, it sounded good on the phone, we met and I rode her mare and everything went well and I started schooling her 5 days a week. She gave me £10 a day to cover my petrol and as a form of 'pocket money' -- it was fab to be earning £50 a week to ride!
The following year I did the same thing and a different, but equally lovely lady phoned me -- she had eventers who needed to be hacked out during the week and was looking for somebody to help. She did not offer me any money but they were lovely horses and I was really glad to be riding.

So yeah, it can definitely happen!!

that sounds fab...
i have a slight problem though; i cant drive!!
and wont be able to start to learn until june!

ps.. your signature looks fab.
