i was arested the other day and sussex police came out they where really horrible they said to me eather you come with us or we will out you on flor and befor i has a chances to say what i was going to do i was on the flor and in cufs and on my ay to the nick they dint offer me a drink anything to eat i ws cold i told them they just said o well

Is it jsu me or ar sussex pilce cr**? anyone go any thoghts?

Did they take you straight to the police station? Did you resist the police in any way? The mental health act 136 basically says you have to be taken to a place of safety, which is usually A & E, if they were depriving you of those things then you ought to take it up with them. Were you seen by a doctor?
 
Yes police often just decide people are nuts and go arrest them under MHA!!!!.Found usually you would have been seen by dr and MHO first then police would be called in.Unless you were a danger to yourself or others at that moment and thats why they detained you.
They must have let you out tho or you wouldn't be typing this
 
May I just point out that to be arrested and detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended in 2008) you MUST be in a public place and behaving a manner which leads the police to believe that you are suffering from a mental illness and are a danger to yourself and others. Following your arrest you must be taken to a place of safety, which in some areas is the local custody suite of the nearest police station. You will then be seen by the forensic medical officer, a doctor who is authorise under section 12 of the MHA and an Approved Mental Health Practitioner. These three people must ALL believe that you are in need of detention before you are compulsoraily taken to hospital. If you are not detained under the MHA then, you will be released, or dealt with under the criminal law if that is appropriate.
