any one with a lame horse moan here!!!

one of mine has an abecess, and the other who's 15 hasnt been lame since he was 2 and now is hopping for no reason, ill be getting the vet out if hes not sound by the week end!

is anyone else as unlucky as i am!?

When I bought my horse he got kicked in the field on the day after he was delivered - fractured his splint bone and had to have 3 1/2 months box rest - I figured that was pretty unlucky! He's back in work now though

It does feel like it's all going pear shaped when that happens though, doesn't it? Everyone else seems to be trotting along happily on their lovely sound, perfectly behaved horses!

Dont talk to me about lame horses

It is lame season at our yard at the mo too - everything seems to be coming in lame at the mo! On our little block of 9, only 2 are sound - and one of those is never ridden anyway!

your not the only one- my mare is recovering from concussive laminitus.
It is lame season- paritcualy as the ground has been so hard

Almost my whole yard are lame. Mine tore her deep flexor tendon and has only 30% chance of recovery, has had 3 months box rest and needs 3-6 more then 9 months turned away in a field. My friend's horse I was riding for her started being "not right" and it turns out that she has one partially fused hock, one that has finished fusing, a curb on one knee and check ligament damage in the other leg (so she has no sound legs!), so she's on box rest as well. Other friend's horse got an abcess in about January time, then trod on his other front foot while stressing on box rest and cut his coronet band, then when he finally was allowed turnout he rolled under the fence and had gashes all over his back legs. Other horses at the yard are undiagnosed hind leg problems, 3yo with oedema underneath the ligaments above the front of the knee (probable kick), and an oldie who is always on and off. There are only three other horses at the yard! 2007 is officially a cursed year. Roll on 2008 and lots of sound horses!

mine has been lame for over a month now - x rays revealled arthritis in pastern now hopefully on the road to recovery - dont dispair (unlike me!!!!) the rains must be coming soon!!!!!!!!!

Mine's not lame but is off work for 2 months with a strained check ligament. Sooo annoying as he is totally sound and doesn't even have a fat leg any more. He is just wandering round the field filling his face as everyone else on my yard is heading out competing.

Our yard is the same,my mare is unlevel due to a hip injury. The YO's new horse arrived last week and promptly got kicked and leg was swollen, gave it a couple of days and it got worse, after x rays today it turns out it's fractured and has to have months off,the horse is nearly 5 and it now looks like it won't be ready for the hunt season, so YO is gutted as you can imagine! I'm looking at getting a second horse and i'm just praying my luck will change with the next one,had nothing but trouble with my current mare, nearly felt like giving up horses all together as had to deal with pricey vet bills and wasn't having any fun cos after all thats why we have horses i keep telling myself! To have fun with not to stress over like i do constantly! Now i've realised i'm not the only one thats had bad luck

Me too - I have a horse that I think lies down at night and pulls his shoes off with his teeth to get out of work, lol.
