yeh they drive me nuts too so god knows how the horses feel! Theres nothing worse than grooming your horse over and they land on you or buzz all round your face i have to admit they are one of my pet hates!!!!
Got attacked by a load for the first time this year yesterday. They really go for my boy, poor thing. Just been and stocked up on fly spray stuff (thanks to those who gave recipes!)
This is my first 'horsey' summer in the Netherlands and I was shocked at the size of the horse flies (clegs as we called them up north). I swear to got I saw one land on Penny the other day that was about an inch and a half long!! Scary f*#$ers! And yes, there do appear to be millions of them about.
non at all down here in devon - and not many of the normal flies either - all mine are out 24/7 without fly rugs or hoods. We have a lovely breeze blowing although it is seriously hot.
On Somerset/Devon border here, I was in the field with the horses yesterday thinking 'hmmmm strange where are all the horseflies this year?', seconds later a whole squadron of them turned up launched a full on attack. Evil b*stards must have developed mind reading powers.
My poor TB x got really badly bitten he looked as though he'd been pebble-dashed down one side.
