... mainly looking to loan horses out at their current yard?
My hunt for a new loan is on going, nothing as of yet has come up :( however I do notice that many of the adverts are stating to keep at current yard! Is this the new trend? Am I ever going to find the right horse again??
Chelle x

sadly it is due to so many stories of loans going horribly horribly wrong.

I would never loan a horse out. I could only possibly consider it if it were to someone I knew very well

Keep looking you are right thats what i noticed when i was looking however was lucky and got given the money to buy one in end. But i did find one on loan to move however same time i found my youngster who is ideal for me when shes older.

Sadly you hear a lot of horror stories about horses going off the yard to loan :(

All of the horses I have had on loan have been through word of mouth and from people that already knew me, so they felt less uneasy about letting their horse go off site. Is there anyone you may know that would loan you their horse?

I have just had a horse and pony returned, from different people. I do not have anyone to ride them, I am too big, and it is very difficult to sell at the moment.

If even the slightest thing goes wrong or the person changes their mind it is the pony who gets sent back without trying to sort through the problem. As you know, they do push the limits after a bit of a honeymoon period!

I will not put any pony out on loan again unless they stay with me. Loans don't work!

Heather- I have put feelers out with friends, so waiting and seeing what happens!

Snooz- I am sorry things haven't worked out but I wish people would give others some type of time of day, even if it's just a chat! Instead of tainting us all with the same brush :(

You know our story with Eddie, thats the reason why we couldnt let him out again to anyone - its just the small things that add up and soon you have a case of neglect (which imo thats what happened to ed). I know theres many nice people out there who look after their loans (like you would) and if you were closer to me could probably have swung it for you with the old parents. :(

Good luck hunni, you'll find a nice hoss soon im sure

Sorry if I came over as a hard b****!

I really would like loans to work out both for the pony and the person. If it worked it would be great for both. I made sure I did not interfere, just told the truth about what they had done, or not done, in the past.

The pony came back covered in bites and kicks as he had been in with a shetland stallion. The horse was probably too green but I had explained her past and for the first few weeks they were so pleased with her and said they would never send her back because they loved her too much and she was such a character! Things suddenly changed and back she came!

If you are looking for a 4yo (passport says 6!) mare, 15.1hh, beautiful but a bit bossy with little ponies, or a 13.1hh dun gelding (Welsh C x NF), I have them here.

I hope you find your perfect horse soon and I apologise for the way my last post sounded. :)

Loans can and do work. We are just so used to hearing all the horror stories! I loaned my horse.

His owners let me move him 200 miles away. I regularly phoned and sent photos etc. They came and visited once or twice. I fell completely in love with him and asked them if I could buy him. They agreed but asked if I could loan for one more year just to make sure I wasn't still in the honeymoon period.

I have now bought him and he has been amazing he has taught me so much. I owe him nothing he will be with me untill they day he dies (hopefully he has many many years left!).

His owners ( I still call them that even though he is mine :)) can come and see him any time they want. I have since visited them and even stayed over at their house.

He has been responsible for a major career change. I now work with horses. Just can't get enough of em! If they had not let me loan him and move him this would never have happend. Must be fate.

Good luck in finding a good loan. If it works out it can be fantastic x

Snooz- it's ok i do completely understand where your coming from! I have been on the sidelines with Mae and Eddie and what happened to him on his loan wvtb! As for your mare, I would have to decline, for some reason I really don't get on with mares (never have lol)

Devilwoman- I am looking for middleweight weight gelding that is safe to hack and can hopefully do a good dressage test. Don't mind height as long as it can carry 14stone. :) I would like to start hunting and jumping again but that may currently be some time away lol

Mini-eventer- I am so pleased that they can work out! Well done for finding your perfect neddie :)
