As per the title really, will I be frowned on for doing this? what if the rug is wet? Obviously I will take the rug off check George is ok, give him a brush and make sure the inside of the rug isn't wet.
absolutley fine! rugs these days are made out of high tec materials and even if wet your rug will dry one helluva lot more quickly on the horse, as long as you check for rubs then there really is no problem, i tend to do this as i have a tight timetable in the morning so not having to faff around rug changing is a bonus!
I think that's what the original Rambo's were designed for - to be worn in and out. I always change wet rugs but I know several people who leave them on because 'they dry quicker on the horse'.
If Im bringing them in just to be shod etc and they are going out, I will leave a wet rug on them to dry on them, same with if they are only staying in a few hours.
If they are staying in all night i must admit i take it off but that is just my preference, its totally fine to leave them on all night.
When a wet breathable is left on the horse the warmth or the horse means that the wet is always kept outside. If you take it off the rug stays heavy and damp. These rugs are designed to be left on. I would never leave a rug on the was wet through to inside though.
I only use good quality rugs like Fal and Rambo and have never had a problem.
Absolutely fine, so long as W is warm and dry when I put my hand under the rug over his rump it stays on him. Dries far quicker and that's what theyre made for nowdays.
no problem at all! Got rid of most of my stable rugs bar a couple of lightweight ones to layer with and Pidge lives in his outdoor rugs all the time. they are all rambo ones that breathe and even if wet on the outside I leave them on overnight as they are dry by the morning. The only time I would replace with other rug is if it was wet on the inside and touch wood that has never happened yet! I ride most nights so they get taken off anyway, and if not riding he gets a groom and check over and rug put back on.
i have heard of many people leaving turnouts on in stable, it helps dry them out quicker, as long as the horse is not wet underneath there is not problem at all i would say
I never leave turnouts on in the stable, but mainly because I hate handling a horse in a mud encrusted rug (I usually end up wearing the mud myself).
