Is it possible to advertise a horse too cheaply?

I've got Lil advertised at the moment as she's just not the one for me and I'm not getting serious people interested in her. I would have said that she's an absolute bargain if you're looking for a bit of a project but with the ability to jump so why aren't people ringing? A bit of me wonders if people assume there is something seriously wrong with her?

The few people that I have had ring up are expecting perfect schooling and completely safe and sensible for 2k which I think is a bit unreasonable.

Afraid that at this time of year (winter coming on) I wouldn't pay 2K for a project!!!. I would expect something quite sane and reasonably well schooled.

Sorry but if you spent 2K on a project horse (obviously depending on age and size) then you paid too much. The market is terrible at the moment people can hardly even give them away.

If I was looking for another one, then one that has quirks and a bit of naughtiness but has a decent jump and is 2k would be exactly what I'm looking for. As long as the horse is young. Wouldn't buy an older naughty one.

Mine was 3k as a 6 year old 8 years ago (but that was mates rates off people we've known for years). He has a fab scopey jump, is stunning to look at and has beautiful paces but he is allergic to everything, frightened of everything and spins like a demon on the road. In fact, he's an absolute ***** at times (literally tore the bum out of my jeans with his teeth one day), but I love him to bits and wouldn't part with him for any amount of money.

I think that talent is worth more than perfect manners. But that's just my opinion and I don't have very much money!

She's only 7 is very well bred and stunning to look at. When I say project there is nothing wrong with her. She'll go out and ride a decent Prelim test and can jump 3ft3. She's just a bit quirky, if she thinks you can't ride she'll run through the canter transition rather than striking off neatly.

Maybe you should put her up for 3k then? I have to say, I am one of those funny people who won't eat at pubs that serve £3.99 meals because I think they must serve manky horrible food if it's that cheap :D

I think that the price of horses is all relative to your own wishes. I've seen people say that they'd pay £4,000 for a horse that's good on the road, will pop 2ft 6 and do a decent dressage test.

For £4,000 I'd want the horse to be capable of jumping a lot more than 2ft 6. 3ft 6 at the very least. It's all down to what you want I suppose. Good schooling and nice manners are far more important to some people than what they can jump or what dressage test they can do. Horses for courses as they say.

Possibly but the market is dead as. We've got a saint of a pony for sale for peanuts just because we need to downsize numbers before winter, but had no interest whatsoever.

Yep, advertised at that price I'd assume there was something major wrong with her conformationally, behaviorally or in terms of soundness.

TBH I'd try advertising her at nearer £5K ono if she is rideable and well put together. That should get serious riders to look, you can then explain on the phone that she can be a bit tricky and in which respects so the price is very negotiable to the right home.

agirl at my old place had to sell her horse due to divorce.it all happenned rather quickly and she only wanted a token amount for him £1000 as she needed a really quick sale. I stuck some adverts up for him and straight away people were saying oh there must be something wrong with it...too cheap and didnt even bother phoning. it clearly stated on the advert that he was only for sale due to divorce etc. in reality he was a lovely lad. she just couldnt afford to keep him any more. ended up on loan somewhere in the end. so sometimes people jus assume I think.
