Is it possible to dye leather bridlework, any one tried it?

Hi there
This is possibly a stupid question but is it possible to dye leather tack, and has anyone tried it? I have a lovely diamante browband that is havanna but all my tack is black. I have dyed shoes/boots and a leather handbag before, but never tried to dye tack. I dont have much to loose, but has anyone tried this before and if so, what did you use?

Years ago I remember dying a bridle black because I had black saddle. I think I used shoe dye. It turned out ok but it eventually returned to dark havana after numerous cleanings. You might as well give it a try as it's just a brow band, even a few coatings of neatsfoot oil would probably darken it a lot.

Thanks, I will try the shoe dye that I have in the cupboard then. I am a bit of a "make do and mend" kind of girl by ideology as well as necessity so Im willing to give it a go.
I cant imagine its going to hurt the leather any? Just hope it does not dye the grey horse...!

I seem to remember someone having to dye a bridle with white padded noseband years ago, to comply with PC rules... so must be possible.

I expect it'll get a bit fiddly around the diamante, won't it. Someone once recommended some really good stuff to re-dye the seat of my black saddle because it had faded and looked tatty. I believe it was dylon.
