Im just wondering if its possible to make a full time living out of pet sitting/ dog walking etc. Does anyone do this?

You might do ok if you live in London and have a few contacts, else it is not worthwhile, most people who do it are mothers and don't declare taxable revenue.

Yep, it is so.................I dont have kids, I do home board and my OH dog walks, and financially we are fine and have savings and we declare tax;) Im also insured and licenced.
I work 2 nights a week, and to be fair I do love my job and it means no vet fees for me which is handy with so many dogs, but the wage we make from boarding and walking are way more than my wage from work. We could still get by pay mortgage have 2 cars if I dropped my job.
Diesel is also minimal as the dogs OH walks are on the door step.
Suppose it depends what kind of lifestyle you want, OH used to work for a car manifacturer worked all the hours god sent (had spinal surgery) had to take time off to recover and I did not want him to go back, so his wage became the walking and boarding, its not as guaranteed as this full time job was and he was on a descent wage b4. But so far we are off and he has a life now nd we see each other alot more as most days I join him on walks (I skip it in the winter):D.

Op......I could personally recommend it, are you wanting to sit in other peoples homes?

Thanks for replys, Its just a thought at this stage but there is a chance that I may be out of work possibly next year. I have my own dogs so dont think staying in peoples homes would work.
I was thinking more of walking dogs for people who are at work etc, vists to feed cats, I could aslo do horses ie feed and turn out for people etc and also have some experience with other animals ie sheep, goats, chickens.

I have worked in kennels etc so have quite a bit of experience with dogs. Im just wondering if I could earn enough to pay the bills.

I often take in friends dogs to live as family whilst said friends go off to exotic climes. They supply all the food and I dont charge because they are friends. This means I get given lots of alcohol, perfume etc so I not only get to smell nice I get drunk:D

I have had lots of people ask me if I would take their dogs with a financial arrangement but I dont want the commitment. I think in your case you could do this but your dogs must be socialable and so must theirs be.

I was thinking more of dog walking and visting peoples homes to let their dogs out etc, rather than having them to stay, although I could have one at a time at home as my dogs are friendly.
Im just wondering if its possible to make a living from it. Could do other animals as well as dogs and horses.
