My other problem, (one of many!)is that the menage i have to practice my dressage tests in is not in any way 20 x 40, it is some sort of random square, which makes practising my tests really difficult. Any one else have this problem and what do you do???

I'd only practice certain moves from your test that fit into that arena. Theres no way that you can do the whole test properly in an arena thats too small - it will hinder you more than help. Hire somewhere thats the right size once or twice to go through the test, or measure out 20x40 in your field...

It is quite possible to practice your test in a 'ramdom square' you just have to be a bit clever. Measure out the area of your 20m and 10m circles so that you can practice the 'round shape' not a egg shape of a circle. turns and CL can be done anywhere and at least you can practice linking all the movements together in sequence even if not all in the correct place but at least in the correct order !

I am a freelance instructor and believe me some people school in the most bizarre places ! we can't all have fantastic schools - but where there is a will there's a way ! Let us know how you do !

Thank you i thought that might be the response!!! It is impossible to run through the test in our school grrrrr!!!!! Will have to find a local school as on livery and not sure they will let me use any where else to ride, but might be worth an ask i guess. Thanks again
