I've got some rugs that are quite new and still quite clean inside but muddy on the outside.

Is there a way to wash them/freshen them up without needing to reproof?

personally if the rugs are clean on the inside then I wouldn't worry too much. If your horses are anything like mine then the rugs, clean or otherwise will all end up the same colour!!!

Yes Nixwax do a rugwash solution and a rugwash and reproof. I've used both with success. I generally wash my LW T/o's in the rugwash one.

i've never ever ever had a rug reproofed! and i've never had a rug leak yet

Yes it is. I wash rugs as my business and use Nikwax wash, new rugs dont need re-proofing on their first wash usually. When they have been re-proofed I usually recommend that they be re-proofed every time thereafter as per advice from Nikwax themselves. Havent had any complaints dso far.
