To get a nice pony, around 14hh, to do pony club on, for a 3k budget?

Would like to be able to do 3ft XC, and SJ, and do a bit of everything. In Scotland, and between the ages of 4-15?

Am I being unrealistic?

Don't see why not, we bought one (with saddle and rugs) 3 years ago when prices were far higher, a 14h New Forest who turns out to be a cracking jumper at 3' , does a very passable dressage test, and has turned his hand to pretty much everything with pony club.

If you're offering a good perminant home try word of mouth, instructors, local riding club heads etc. You could certainly pay more for ready made, complication free and sound - but if you're OK with a 4 year old with no experience or a 15 year old that might have the odd niggle vetting wise then should do.

Best way to find out is start looking, if you're only finding rubbish then you know you need to save a little more!

I am really suprsed at spotsrock comment, I would expect to pay for a nice pony that will go xc up to a reasonable height and PC activitys. I am sure you will be able to find something within budget dizzy socks and there are some great ponys about that will go for a little less maby because there abit older etc, but people do pay for nice pony club ponys and they are generally worth there weight in gold :) best of luck to you x

Yes I think so. Its usually only more costly if its one that's got to be a bombproof novice ride that will nanny someone with washing line reins round the 3' xc & everywhere else. But one that is safe & knows its job with a rider (rather than a passenger) I think its an ok budget.

I know of one that fits the bill perfectly, £1500, 7yr old, hes done a bit of everything but hes in Wales, so no good for you, shame you cant travel further afield.
