Posted 2 days ago as feeling guilty about my clydedale mare not yet rugged. Bought my neice a TBX mare, Izzy, who has got a waterproof on, but due to the vast quantity of grazing has a belly too big for her TB shaped body!
Anyway neice is away, in a warm hotel, with her BF, I go down to get them both in for feed, and there in the middle of the field, is Izzy stood in a gorgeous red rug, with neck, with a pair of piggy eyes poking out the top! Took them both in, and neices horse was too hot.....so rug off, rug on, Izzy back in waterproof!! Meanwhile, dried Clydesdale off, removed, branch from her tail, got her waterproof out, only to find one legstrap missing (now remember her coming in last spring with just the one)
So, clean and dry Clydesdale taken back out in field with no rug, skims giant hoof in puddle, soaks me. She still dry. Piggy TBX lunges for grass, welly comes off, my foot gets free mudbath. Back on yard, muck stables out, go up muckheap, and empty wheelbarrow on myself. Now have wet poo, wet mud, but dry horses.....so one question, is it summer yet?!

I was thinking the same traipsing through a muddy field in the rain trying too pop pick with a head lamp!! Wheelbarrow somehow gets caught in a strand of electric tape??eventually freed it!! Wheel Barrow then decided to topples over have to pick all up again! Trip over something on the muck heap and get foot stuck!! Trying to sort rugs out on my mare who's terrified of the head lamp so have to switch it off to get anywhere near her so was then plunged into total darkness :(. Why do we do it?? Good job we love our horses!! :).
