My mare is only on her 11th day of treatment for cushings but she seems so full of life again recently! being the ring leader making them all gallop around the field again! she's been more chilled out for the last yr! but the last few days has been like her old self again! she is 28, so just put it down to getting older!

do you think it would make a change that quickly?

i think each horse is affected differently so it could be the meds that are helping her to get back to her old self..it took about 3 weeks for mine to change, her levels were 172 at gthe beginning and should have been under 29 so quite high. it sounds like good news anyway...

if your mare has been quiet for some time this can be a symptom of cushings as well. they dont all get all of the symptoms, mine didnt shed her coat, was a bit quiet and well behaved ,very easy to ride and was a little bit grumpy and was cribbing more than usual. once the tablets kicked in she went back to being her normal nutty self, back to being a very tricky ride, and stopped cribbing almost completely, also was a sweetie in the stable again.. unfortunately she is now on 3 tablets a day so pretty costly!!!!!!!! but as long as she is happy then so am i....

I think it can - we saw a huge difference in one of ours after about 2 weeks. Like you, we assumed he was just getting a bit older and slowing down a bit but after a couple of weeks he was back to his usual self, full of energy, had his great personality back - it was incredible. Amazing to see them feeling better isn't it!
