Is it the wrong time of year to hog?

She has never been hogged before and is a hairy cob with a very scruffy mane, how would she cope in temperature she is naked and stabled at night?

Mine is hogged all year round, she lives out, no rug, plenty of shelter and the rest of her coat is like a polar bear.....if she keeps the punky mane she uses it to insulate the electric fencing while slipping underneath...never had a problem with her being cold, in fact last winter she did a bit too well...

Never the wrong time of year, if you are worried about her catching cold then rug accordingly

There are plenty out there hogged & not wearing neck covers (or even rugs) when turned out tho.

My cob is hogged year round - at the moment she has an irish clip with half a face and only wears a normal MW rug. When it gets very very cold she will wear a neck

Shes all booked in for Monday just hope she will look good as she has a chunk taken out of her neck where she out grew her tether 2 years ago before I got her.

Our hogged cob is out in all weather in just a lightweight sheet and seems fine with it (not clipped and no neck). If he was cold we'd just rug him a bit more

Mine is hogged all year round, although it is in desperate need of doing again he has a slight mohawk which looks ridiculous!
