My cat with cancer, a bit subdued but nothing horrendous. The scar from the op never fully healed and now the small hole seems to be getting larger. Its not painful, but is right on top of a lump.
Tonight he has a fresh hole further down his side , is this the cancer coming out, anyone experienced this?

Well In my experince, My cat has magiliant tumour removed off the skin around neck 8 years ago, although have scars and tiny tumours around it and can easily get caught if stratching alot. Had no problems with it. Now at 14 she got small lumps appearing all over her body. She had problems with her bladder as well!... I know when she's distressed she'll piss on the floor ashamed but she hasn't done this for 18 months cos we have put her on special diet. If she starts again and lumps gets bigger or bothersome and i will of course take her to vet and seek best action. If it's poor prognosis, i would have her PTS on the spot... I love that cat but i think she had suffered enough and she had survived 8 years (the vet gave her one year!!!).

Only you know when's the right time.. follow your heart... Hugs

thanks, he was poor at the start of this week, after being outside for a few days and has perked up a good bit, but he already has an open bit from his op that didn't heal properly, this is where there was no incision etc. before.
Wonderful to hear about yours doing well, we went for the op with the hope of getting more time but have only gained a month or so sadly.
It is so hard to know if it's now as an open wound is not good, it's about the size of a ten pence piece and right through the skin.

I know what you mean about suffering etc, its hard to know when to say, enough.

Thank you all. He has been buried in the garden, a plaque ordered and we are going to plant a weeping willow over it. It was horrible at the end when he was doing what cats do best (trying to squirm out from the vet) but the vet definitely agreed there was nothing more we could do and it was very quick.
He didn't have to go through vomiting or collapsing and wasn't sore because we had given him metacam.
Overall it was horrible and sad but the right thing to do.
RIP sam, nothing and no-one could replace you.

I really feel for you K. What a hard decision to have to make. Did you see a difference in him when you came home at the weekend??
I'm glad to hear it was so peaceful. Hugs to you.
RIP Sam.

There was a huge difference which I put down to him being dehydrated (when I gave him water on a bench he drank for ages) and outside for a few days but when this hole appeared suddenly that was, as the vet said, not our decision but his body's. We've had him ten years, since I was 8, atm I just feel ill and drained, but so glad we took him, and buried him at home, it feels like I got to say goodbye, it's nearly like he waited til I was home.
I will at some point upload pics, it's amazing how many people knew him, he even brought a tear to dads eye which takes a bit.
Thank you for all your kind thoughts, excuse my rambling, it's the first time we've ever had to PTS anything.

Would have been worse (for you and your parents) if it had happened when you were away.
Would love to see pics when you feel ready to put them up!
