Very hairy KWPN which can get sweaty where the girth is, between the front legs and under the neck, even on a walking hack.

He's going to be tested for cushings but in the mean time to make him more comfortable would it be worth clipping some hair off (neck to girth line) or is it too late now?

If he is getting sweaty and uncomfortable I would take it off. Better for him to be comfy especially if he is poss cushingoid.

I wont be doing my last clip until next week, by the time my boy moults the weather has warmed up and he is getting sweaty

i dont think its too late, ill be clipping mine this weekend or next however last year i clipped one of mine beginning of April. if hell be comfier then take it off.

I just got my girl clipped yesterday for the first time this season. Her work has increased alot since the beginning of winter, and the coat was starting to get uncomfortable for her. She seems delighted with herself now!
If the horse is uncomfortable working with the full thick coat, I'd take it off. Will prob need an extra layer at night though too.

Unless you are showing, clip any time of year. I used to clip Cairo all year round, ditto Jemima, though if we were showing, I avoided a few weeks before the show. Being a piebald I could get away with clipping her in the summer.

Stinky and Farra are normally full clipped mid January so they have lovely coats by April for showing.

If you do show, and the coat has changed, depending on the colour of the coat, you may get away with clipping now, but do a full clip so there are no lines.

Why is it ever too late to clip unless you are seriously into showing! I never understand the question, what do you think will happen to the horse? Turn into a frog?
