Hi all,

I would like some advice re clipping I was planning to clip lottie tomorrow, but have been told it is too cold atm. What do others think?

Thanks
Ruth

personally i wouldnt worry about it, as long as youve got the correct rugs etc.
try and do the clipping quickly, and then pile on the rugs!! anyway the weather is suppost to be milder tomorrow, its just tonight thats suppost to be exceptionally cold.

as long as you rug to make up for what you have taken i dont see why not, i never heard of anyone not clipping because it was a cold day, maybe thats just my experience?

No. Just put a rug over her to help keep her warm as you get well into the clip. I normally do the belly and all the lines and face first and leave the back till last. No obvious complaints from the horses concerned... Oh and in a stable if possible so out of the worst of any wind/draughts

I did my boy this morning and it was freezing but kept plenty of rugs on him. I did the front half first then folded the rugs back to do his back end. Didn't seem to object too much, and he is very sensitive chap!!
Was interesting turning him out tho....very fruity!!

Sneedy, rug him up properly, he'll be fine.

I wouldn't worry about the cold. If you do all the fiddly bits first (ie lines, face, armpits, between the back legs, etc) and leave a woolly 'rug' on him until you are ready to whip the last bit over his back off quick!

I'm planning to do mine again tomorrow - third time this year! I absolutely hate clipping but he has just got too woolly to leave it another week!
