is it too late to put grass seed on

This time of year is ideal to re seed bare patches, gives the grass time to get properly established ready for grazing next year. Ground is still warm and the wet autumn weather means it normally germinates well. Make sure you mix the seed with a little sand & compost to give it some protection from being blown away and gives a good base to germinate in.

If the paddock is still being used then you need to fence off the re seeded area until fully established. Newly seeded / emerged grass won't stand being walked on / grazed for several months.

Also there is a product called Graze on, which you can use while the field is being grazed

I don't think Graze On is seed - I think it provides nutrients to ensure that the grass provides correct nutritional elements for horses - it's not a fertiliser as such but it puts a certain quality into the existing grass.

We will be overseeding later this month.
