Is it too late to sell rugs on ebay?

Hi all
I have a number of approx 6'6 - 6'9 rugs I will never use again (don't ask ) and wonder if it is too late in the winter season to sell turnout rugs on ebay?
I have some stable rugs too...

I'm going to put a stable rug, liner and a snuggy hood on ebay. Never the wrong time for rugs IMO. People who buy second hand will buy to put away for next winter, if they don't get to use them this. A bargain is always welcome

The fee for listing items is higher if the starting price is higher, therefore it it far cheaper to list at a starting price of 99p but you'd risk them selling for that price. As it is free listing weekend, you could start them at the lowest price you'd be happy with and it'd still be free. Hope that makes sense

Of course not! I've just sold 1x heavy weight and 1x medium weight, with the heavyweight getting about 8 bids on it and going for twice as much as I wanted! They were fairly old rugs that needed a couple of repairs too

defo not I sold a mw stable and neck on there on thursday! One thing i would suggest is to have a reasonable buy it now price . So that if someone really wants it they can buy it right away instead of waiting another week or so until it ends... they might go elsewhere.
I have sold 4 things this week for what I consider to be a price to be reasonable on buy it now. yes u do pay a few extra pence for the listing but I found it to be very effective

No it isn't too late at all. Do you have a list of what you have as I am always on the look out for rugs in 6'6'' and 6'9''.

Ebay is really easy, but the gist is that it is a free listing weekend so you should be able to put your starting bid at whatever you want and not have to pay. On a normal day only certain things qualify for free listing, and only if you start them below certain prices (99p for horsey stuff iirc). If you list things on a normal day starting at a tenner you have to pay for the privilege. That said, I tend to start everything at 99p anyway as people seem to like the 'auction' aspect of ebay and I find I actually get more money doing that than I do starting things at a sensible price There's nowt as queer as folk!

ETS: also the best time for listings to end is Sunday evenings so it is often worth paying to make sure that's when they end if you can't be bothered to do all your listing exactly one week before

If I may offer my perspective on times to sell rugs: many of us here in the southern hemisphere look for rugs around this time of year, in anticipation of our own winter (Opposite seasons, to state the obvious!). Stable rugs are used in our winter/your summer, but rainsheets, or waterproof stuff are used all year round as parts of South Africa are winter rainfall areas, and parts are summer.

A lot of riders I know here buy off ebay since the retail choice here is limited and, often over-priced beyond all imagining.

If you are prepared to ship to distant lands, I'd recommend that you indicate that you can post rugs etc by surface mail to distant lands, to save postage for the buyer. It takes a while for parcels to reach us by surface mail, so if I were looking for rugs for our winter I'd only start looking in about Feb. Or a bit later, as I'm always a bit disorganised.
