Here is the announcement. After holding a weekly horse market for the past 308 years Southall Horse Market has announced that it has finished. It closed today after announcing it at the sale. The small animal sale on a Tuesday has also ended.

Oh..thats quite sad!! From my experience of the place it's reputation was worse than the actual place.

I can't say I am sorry to see it go. From a point of view of tradition it is a shame of course, but it did seem to be an outlet for some of the dodgier dealers and the practise of issuing passports on presentation of a horse with no history or background history was always going to be open to abuse.

I am sure those who were the worst of traders will find a replacement though
