Just heard via a very good friend, who does not hunt, from her farrier who is very well respected, that the Zetland hunt are not allowing anyone who is a member with a coloured horse to hunt with them, you may go as a guest with a coloured horse but you wont get asked back! I just wondered weather anyone knew this was true or not or had heard anything as if it is its a very sad day for the coloured horse and there owners!

Sounds like someone is trying to whind you up. I can't believe they would try to ban a horse because of it's colour.

Just to clarify, the Masters and Secretaries of the Zetland Hunt know of no person who has been banned from the Zetland Hunt, and have not instigated any restrictions on Coloured horses coming out with the Zetland Hunt, whoever posted this item does not have a clue what they are on about!

Ooh, I've got a 1940's version - I'll have to check.

As for visibility, when the Royal Scots Greys [a cavalry regiment with, not surprisingly, grey horses] went to war in 1914, they dyed their horses a sort of purpley-brown with potassium permanganate.

Ha ha this reminds me of 30 odd years ago when I took my smart coloured cob as my regular horse was lame. I was asked why I had come hunting on a cow! How times have changed thankfully :) Btw this wasn't the Zetland :)

One Farrier I know often works at the same yard as another Farrier friend, they both set off vicious rumours about each other....and then wait to see how long it takes for them to get back to each other... All that time spent upside down clearly messes with rational thought!! :)
