my friend that i ride with all the time at the yard i'm on has just left and i'm now on my lonesome.

i was thinking of putting up an advert enquiring if there was anyone in my area that fancied riding out with me as we're only 15 mins away from a big open country park.

my problem is that neither of my horses are straightforward. one is just returning to work after being off for a long period with coffin joint problems so is restricted to walking. He's an 18 hand ex racer who can be a bit hot but is excellent in any traffic.

the other horse is VERY fit and well at the moment, another ex racer, who is a lovely ride. he's full of beans and quite strong sometimes but well behaved, the problem with him is that he's a nightmare on the ground and will bite and kick if you don't watch him.

when i read this back it's not sounding too promising and i think i may have answered my own question but what do people here think, would i be wasting my time?

thanks in advance and sorry for the lack of capital letters, keyboard shift button has died

Would you be looking to meet up some like-minded people on their own horse?
If so, then it would be very do-able I reckon. My farrier gave another girl my number and we hacked out regularly. She had stopped riding and started to use any excuse and once she started to come out with me, there was no stopping her.

If your looking for someone to ride one of yours, then as long as your honest, surely you would be able to find an experienced rider that doesn't have a mount?

I advertised for a sharer and was totally honest about my very strong, very grumpy but excellent in traffic boy, stressing he was not for novices. I only had 1 response but she was perfect and has now been around 2 years. It's better to be totally honest and get 1 response from the right person than gloss over the bad bits get loads of replies but none of them suitable. I think there'd be plenty out there who would jump at the chance.
