Horse in question is nothing special, just wondering what he has done in the past, and what his breeding actually is. Trouble is he is a bay tb x, same as probably 1000's of other horses
I dont see what harm it can do! I sold a horse on 2 years since when i fell pregnant with my son, he was work in progress and I decided to sell him as i had three others ongoing and couldnt do them all whilst pregnant. Id love to know where is is now and how hes getting on but same thing, 3 year old bay tb gelding, where the hell do you start?
If you have got the time then why not? I think it is always nice to know where they have been and what they have done and I think it helps to understand some of their quirks sometimes. Most have their faults/problems for a reason I think.
Maybe try a post on here or on www.horsehunter.co.uk they are free to advertise on, maybe put up a pic and see what replies you get. Are there any vaccination stamps from vets on the passport as the vet will sometimes pass on info like your name and number to an old owner if they are still on computer although they are not allowed to give out any details they will sometime be helpful I have found.
It is worth a try, you never know what you may find!
Good luck
I always wanted to know the life history of my TB cross...but he's just a chestnut gelding, no freezemark. Then I decided that it's best I don't find out...he has so many phobias, worries and dislikes (he won't let people touch his mane or ears, gets very stressed at meal times or when being tacked up...)...he has white hair from scarring and a slight dent on his nose, which looks like he's worn a very tightly fitted headcollar or bridle. Similar marks on his back. His vaccination records showed he'd had 5 owners is 6 years.
Whatever happened to him, for whatever reason, it's gone now.
Unless there was a very easy way to trace, such as a freezemark or unless there was an important reason to know, i'd not bother.
i found out the history of my mare - found her sire then posted on here and found out that shes by landgraf on one side and mill reef on the other which is nice!
