Is my horse getting too much or not enough?

My Irish Draught is the first horse I have owned so I'm still learning, especially when it comes to feeding. Throughout the winter he was fed every day with a scoop of herbal chaff and a scoop of nuts and a small scoop of micronised linseed, together with turmeric, linseed oil and apple cider vinegar. limitless hay. He has come out of winter in good shape but in the last few days I have cut is feed down considerably as a result of the new grass. Could anyone advise whether the above is a balanced enough diet or should he be getting a multivitamin too. I might add that he lives out. Any advice is gratefully appreciated.

Hi, that sounds like a good diet and is fairly similar to what mine are on. However, I would always feed a vitamin and mineral supplement when you aren’t feeding the ‘recommended’ amount of feed, which is usually way too much for a good doer. I feed my natives equimins advance complete powder so I know they are getting everything they need and I really rate it.

oh marvellous- thank you so much- I find the feeding element of horse ownership the most complicated- I will order the equimins.
