i have a gangly arab

and clipped him today as he was overly hairy and has hunter trials sunday - and i put him 1 medium weight stable on - happily eating hay - and he was lathered - sweating up so only had to put a fleece on!

It's been quite warm here today really, don't know about near you, but medium weights are quite heavy for mild weather really. A lot of horses never go past a medium even in coldest part of winter. And not just cobby types etc.

I can't believe some people are clipping already - where has the time gone?? and on that note I can't believe horses are being rugged! I would never ever rug mine before 'oct half term'.
If clipped now I would only be using a thin sheet or travelling type blanket in all honesty.

yeh thats what he has on my last mare has duvet on medium weight and heavy weight and was just warm lol

I've clipped Daisy because she's a hairy yeti and in alot of work but then i clip all year anyway.

I'm certainly not putting a rug on her when she's standing in the stable and only a lw without fill when she's out. She'd be much too hot with a mw on.
