Hi, we tried one of our ponies on hifi lite over a year ago and he seemed to get fizzy on it, this winter he has been on happy hoof no problems.

hifi has cereal straw down as one if its ingrediants where as happyhoof as oat straw - are they the same

anyone else have problems with feeding hifi.

I'm gob smacked that any horse could get fizzy on Hi Fi Lite! I detest the stuff coz it looks and smells like chopped up front door mats. I understand it has the same calorie content too, ie virtually nil, just bulk to keep tummies full. What else was your ponio on scoobers? If sugar beet to wet it, it could have been that rather than the hi fi lite. Or it could have been that on a restricted calorie diet said ponio started to lose a bit of weight and either got cross coz he was hungry ar started to feel fitter and found some energy!

All the Dengie Products have Alfalfa in as well as Chaff so your pony could be reacting higher levels of that. In fact Alfalfa is listed first in the ingredients list which means there is more Alfalfa than Straw there. With Good Doer it's the other way round.

Not sure about Happy Hoof which contains alfalfa but couldn't find an ingredients list.
I think the lite versions of the Dengie products have molasses extract instead of molasses but maybe even this is too much for your pony.
