Really want to go riding today, but its been raining loads and he's soaked. (He lives out, and hasn't got a rug on)
I'm off to Bath at lunch time, so haven't really got time to dry him off thoroughly beforehand, so is it ok to ride him when he's wet? If i did, i would try drying him with a towel and some straw first. I worry that the saddle may rub or something.
Thanks

Personally i wouldnt ride if he was wet, more prone to girth rubbing and making him sore. But i suppose if all of his saddle area is dried off throughly then it shouldnt be a problem :)

Yeah :) No different to them being sweaty underneath really...

If they've come in caked in mud, I just hose them off leave them drip off and the ride. I never have any problems, my TB is a bit sensitive and has a fluffy girth anything and never had any rubs or other. Better wet and clean than muddy!

Yes I would. I may use a towel under the saddle. It's not going to rub anymore then when they sweat under the saddle. The only consession I would make is to take a little longer to warm up as the muscles may be cold. That's it though, they're horses not china dolls.
Enjoy your ride :)

Okayy thanks everyone, i think i will go for a ride, i'll try and dry the saddle areas off as best i can. He's a toughy i'm sure he can cope. :)
I want to make the most of this soft ground! Certainly not complaining about the weather, i'm glad it's finally raining. (For once.)

I don't like it, but do it anyway, no difference from him being really sweaty. If I don't mind waiting I prefer to leave him in his stable for an hour and let him dry off before riding him but most of the time I don't have the time so ride him anyway.
