Is pink, orange or yellow hi viz better?

I'm getting a hi viz quarter sheet and wondering what colour to get. Do are they all just as good or is one better than the other? I think I heated someone saying they're different before but I'm now sure. I'll be hacking out on country lanes and around a village and really want to be seen !

Mine is pink, I think it stands out better against the yellow leaves in autumn. We have two that are black, so need all the help they can get.
I also have a bright orange fleece and head collars that stand out well.

I have pink, we hack mainly in country lanes/forestry and always being told pink has caught attention quicker than yellow. Although I believe a combination of colours is the best.

I think it depends on the light. Yellow is great for the dull days but I prefer orange when its sunny. As above, I tend to wear a combination!

In yellow hi viz I nearly had a BMW in the back of me. She wasn't driving fast but it was summer and we were riding into the sun and I ended up flapping my arms to her and she saw us at the last minute. She stopped in a safe place and apologised but told us that the yellow just did not stand out. So for me now if I was on the road it will be a mixture of yellow and orange.

VBandz do a 2 colour range- yellow/pink or yellow/orange. I really rate it, it really stands out and I like their quarter sheet that fits behind the saddle.

A lot of "which is best" depends on season but if I had to opt for just 1 it would be orange, highways agency are changing over to orange now too.

Depends on the weather/conditions. Yellow is sometimes difficult to see if its murky rather than dark. A mix of orange and pink may be best. I have all colours and the pink normally stands out more.

Agreed, I have orange, never had anyone say they cannot see me - all the local dog walkers can see me a mile off in orange, less so if in yellow.

Yellow is the worst if you're going for a single colour, go for a combination or solid pink or orange.

Personally I am not a fan of pink and from experience carrying scuba equipment to be deployed at sea in an emergency, a combo of yellow and orange covers more bases. Purely accidentally I have a mix anyway. ..Orange jacket under my bp, yellow hat band and other bits, yellow tops for summer. I also think head to toe reduces the effect. It works better broken up a bit. But that's just my opinion.

I regularly get drivers stopping to tell me how much me and the bonkers orange pony stand out when we're both wearing pink. Never had that happen when we've been wearing yellow.

Yellow is considered superior here, but the colour alone isn't what makes hi-viz clothing, its the class rating on the reflective strips which come in different grades. The highest grade of visibility which is suitable for motorway traffic in most weather conditions is class 3, which comes in both yellow and orange, but never pink. I bought my jacket and reflective strips from a construction site with grade 3 hi-viz clothing - I've never found any horse gear that comes in the highest grade, even though it's what we really need!

Apologies for the AWFUL photo but I thought some extra info might help! I'm wearing a construction jacket with the highest grade high vis. You can still see the colour around the strips, doesn't matter if it's yellow or orange, but with low quality high visibility stuff the colour around the strips darkens and becomes greyish looking. This is happening all the time regardless of whether you're out in broad sunshine or in the dark, but if light conditions are starting to lower, it's vital to have the best strips you can afford, because not only does the colour stay visible in the dark, the strips shine from a much greater distance away.

Apparently colour blind people see pink as grey, so it doesn't work for them. Although all my stuff is yellow I'm thinking now that orange is best as nothing in my environment is that colour.

I use orange sheet on a dark horse with an orange jacket on me and a yellow hat cover.

I must say pink ones are rather striking, seen a fair few people in them and you can spot them straight away but Im not a fan of the pink myself. XD But Id say pink or orange?

I can tell you as my oh has worked in the rail industry for nearly 20 years that the reason they wear orange is that it's by far the most flattering and attractive colour, on my oh at least

I have a pink gilet, and vbands yellow and pink tail and ear covers. I don't always wear everything, but always gilet as a minimum

Last week I got my old dog a coat and it is orange and I think probably the easiest to see item of hi-vis I own, and I own lots!

I wear pink - mt excuse is something to do with rapeseed fields but in reality its probably the only opportunity I have to dress my ginger gelding in my favourite colour haha! It does really stand out though so I don't consider it unsafe!

We wear a mixture of yellow and orange and sometimes pink. His sheets are yellow, he has orange ears and leg bands, I have a yellow hat band and a variety of pink and yellow tabards, coats and gilets for different weather conditions. I have been told that anyone who doesn't spot us shouldn't be on the road!
