I may end up in the situation where i need to sell/loan on (or maybe both of my horses) i don't want to sell either, but wondered if my mare would be loanable.

she is 8yrs old and 15.3hh TB mare. RC type, we have had a few issues in the past with her rearing but she hasn't done it or even threaten to in a long time. she is a angel on the ground in everyway. good to hack on her own and in company however she isn't brilliant on the roads (not the cars but she seems to spook on the roads for some reason) she has jumped 3ft at home and 2ft 6 course at competitions. she has lovely paces and would be very good at dressage (low level - up to elementary) she would need a confident compertant rider.

would her past rearing make her unloanable?

No, as long as you are honest with people so they are aware of it and you can see if they are capable if she were to do it again. And to make sure that their riding style doesnt cause/encourage rearing. Every horse has some negative points, its just whether an individual can cope with them.

is that her in the picture? she does get a bit vertical.

I would cosider loaning a rearer as long as I was aware that they did it and in what circumstanses.

I Would rather a horse that rears than bucks imo

nikkinoo thats not her normal rearing that was the worst she had ever done, we think that scared her because she hasn't rear properly since that day she has done "tiny bunny hop i'm going to rears" but not what i would call a proper rear and even the i think thats only been once.

i would be totally honest as i don't want her ruined i have spent alot of time and money getting her sorted and really don't want to loan her out but if i have to then it would be something i would consider

She could make a superb horse for someone who is experienced aslong as you are really honest and willing to work with the people at the start?Good Luck

Possibly, but I'd be very careful about the kind of person you'd allow to take her on. Obviously no-one who is nervous but not an overconfident idiot who'll wind her up and fight with her either. Also think about what will happen if she starts rearing with them, they send her back and you're back at the start again - it would be so frustrating after all the work you've put in.

We managed to loan my neurotic 14.2 pony to two separate people, young girls I think about 12 at the time? They loved him even though he is not 100% in traffic (big vehicles, tractors etc he hates) and wasn't consistent or reliable to showjump/XC etc (either 100 miles an hour or not at all). He certainly wasn't an anybody's ride but young girls with no fear suited him down to the ground! He was never dangerous with bucking or rearing or anything like that though, just overreacted to things really!

The only reason he came back from the 2nd loan is as the girl wanted to do PC team SJ etc and he just wasn't reliable enough to be consistent so her mum took on the loan of an older, more reliable horse - the daughter was quite upset really as she loved my quirky pony! Therefore i think it certainly is possible providing you are 100% honest about her and vet the people loaning her to ensure they are capable enough.
