Is softened water safe ?

our yard water is fed from the house tap water which is softened with a tapworks water softener. It was there before i moved in and it is properly maintained.
The ponies have been drinking the water for several years with no issues.

Is it safe?

Is it UV or salt? Both are safe but I don’t like the salt softened water.
