I am hoping to purchase a yard soon and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on a new competition yard in the Bridgend area (South Wales)? Is there a call for such a centre? I was hoping do do mainly unaffilated dressage, show jumping, showing, with maybe trying to get qualifers, etc, at a later date. I was also thinking of running regular clinics with various dressage, show jumping trainers/ instructors. Would there be any interest? Any views would be much appreciated.

Pencoed is the largest and most central. It does all the affiliated and non affiliated shows, RC and XC.

I would suggest trying further up or down- Cardiff (as they only have one and it's not very big) or up (Pontypridd) as they don't have one and the closest for them is Caerphilly or Cardiff.

South Wales Equestrian Centre aka SWEC. Used to do very similar things and they were quite popular. I am aware they havent done any shows for a while since changing ownership few years back

Not unless you were having something spectacular. We have quite enough low-middle of the road competition venues, so adding another just wouldn't work.

Yes, a decent run place which holds good competitions and regular clinics with good instructors. Pencoed is good but tbh the only place thats worth going to. Sunnybank is ok but ive stopped going as horse has major issues with going there. Alps court doesnt hold clinics and only really for members of the riding club.

yes, there is a need for competion centres in wales. The only decent venues are pencoed and sunnybank. (My horse also has big issues there and I have stopped competing there.) There is an even greater need for competition centres in the Swansea area. (There are none at present.) If you make it a good venue at reasonable prices catering for all abilities it should do well. The M4 corridor between Camarthen and Bridgend has a very large and capitve horse world.
