A teen on my yard has a big cob with moderate cpl. She follows the protocol with regards to diet, movement, clipping and moisturising. However her horse gets lesions on his legs that don't heal and often deep thrush and abscesses.
She has the vet out for one thing or another pretty much monthly, they just keep giving her flamazine and occasional antibiotics.
I personally think there's a bit too much faith being put in the flamazine, it can be magic but it's just doing nothing here. I was telling her about the various active ingredients that she could try (she is keen, I'm not sticking my oar in!) and trying to send her a list of brands.
When I was in either Australia or the US the ranch I worked at swore by a powder which was mainly clay but the active ingredient was copper, it was really good at drying up and treating oozy skin.
I can't find anything like that over here. Anyone know of a brand?
Thanks.
