Going to have an old but very usable Rice trailer given to me from my dad to sell. It takes 2 x 16.2hh, has double wooden flooring, rear/front load/unload, been kept undercover 99.98% of its life!!
I know that the old Rice trailers are a bit out dated now and not nearly as popular as Ifor, but if someone wants a cheap trailer are they sellable and what kinda price would you expect to see on them? Is, for example £500 too much, too little or about right? Would that tempt you?
I have a single Ifor, towed by a car as don't own a 4 x 4 or I would keep it for myself!

I have a rice trailer - bought it from ebay last year for around the £600 mark - there was alot of bids on it, it was in quite a poor condition too, needed re-lining and a new light plus its really heavy to tow!
Put it on ebay with a reserve of £500

Ebay - had forgotten about that, although the ebay charges have kind of put me off a bit. Give it a thought though.
***scuttles off to look at 'competiton'***!!!

Well, looking at the trailer I would have said it would take 17hh easily, but it says 16.2hh on the tin!! I have the full length breast bar, so the partition can come out. After my dad has moved house (he wants it for his 'junk' to move from A to B) then its mine, so looking at early April.

My friends just sold one for £1100. She did have it resprayed, new floor and I think it had the front unload.

My daughter has just bought one for £550 as a restoration project. It will definatly need a new floor and paint but apart from being old it's quite sound. She went for this option as its probably the only way she will be able to afford her own transport. The market is quite fierce as she phoned for a couple of others and they were snapped up. Make sure you have some photos available for prospective buyers.

At ashford horse auctions last time there were 2 or 3 they all made £800-£900

I would have said ebay is your best bet; remember, say cash on collection only or you could get a paypal chargeback and lose your trailer and money!!

From a buyer's perspective the main issue with older trailers is the floor.

People will bid more aggressively for a tatty old trailer as long as the floor is sound. So remember that in the item description.

If it has a partition in can you pm me as me or a friend might be very interested - I know it's a fair distance away but might be worth a trip. Would you know or be able to find the serial number? Does it have the rear top doors? Much prefer these to an Ifor & have an older 4x4 to tow with.

I have an old Rice trailer currently having a new floor put in- I have sourced a new front top door and am having it re-painted/sprayed...

....I love them, so much more character...the partition is wooden with cream padding.....

Heavy yes, but I have a disco which tows it fine.

People will buy them to renovate- personally I prefer them to the new aluminium ones...
