14/14.1hh approx, welshxarab chestnut gelding.
Good to do. No vices. Unshod. Lives out. Good on lead rein. Ideal 2nd pony off lead rein/confident novice.
Has done pc/low level comps in past.
But.. 17years old?

Thinking of taking him on becausr i love him to bits. Owned by my old yo. Clueless couple. Bought pony for daughter. Hasnt been ridden for years til i moved there.. Bought him back into work & although was prone to bucking he soon got out of it. Took him on fun ride, good as gold.

They need to sell as have no idea what theyre doing. Just want to find him a good home. But i cant be stuck with him forever really. Im too big to have him as mine & i have my boy but i hate the thought of a dealer or likewise buying him- hes very cheap :/

If you can get him proven at pony club then I would think you could sell him. How much for depends on how long you want to hold on to him for but if your not looking at making to much profit and just want a good home then I would think he would sell and quite quickly. Obviously if he's not suited to that sort of thing then you will need to rethink.

I agree with this.

Could you suggest to them/find them a small teenager/adult to bring him back into work for them and get him going again? Then he might have a better chance of a good home. I think someone will want him, but he'd be more attractive to buyers if he was in work.

If he can be proved safe with older children/ teens then yes. If parents of a child have a limited budget I'd recommend an older safer horse like this over a younger flashier one that hasn't been there & done it anyday. If you know a suitable child/ teen who can 'prove' that for potential purchasers then I'd go for it. Don't think 17 is old for a pony, its amazing what parents are willing to pay for safety!

We've a 21 years young arab x show pony who came to us 2 years ago as companion to the younger NF we 'd just bought. He loves his new life, and has discovered he likes pony club stuff, is quite a wizz at mounted games, turns his hand at polo crosse, is a super fast jumper (lower levels with a 12 yo), can do a decent dressage, and has also gone on to win a few veteran showing classes, unaff sj and horse and hound/gymkhana stuff too. He's safe as houses to put any level of child rider on from lead rein to show jumping.
Would agree get him out and about with a teenager and find a pony club home.

Thing is they have no clue & not being sterotypical but theyve had a few girls ride him & he takes piss & they dont want hassle of it..
Im only 20 & happy to put the time in... Its just wether i could sell him.on or not?
