Is there any demand for a 17.3 as a hunter?

I have a friend with a 17.3 10yo which she thinks would suit a man to take hunting... is there any demand, or is 17.3 just too big?

She isn't looking for a lot of money, just a decent home with a job the horse can do. So far I don't think she has any knowledge of it having hunted.

As in hunt horse hunter or as in show/working hunter? If its the former then you'd have to be careful which country you marketed it in (ie not wooded country ;) ). But our friend got 7.5k for an 18.3hh with a few screws loose! If its the latter then I haven't a clue!

There would def be a good demand for a big boy like that. In our hunt country we have thick heavy going, no woods and big hedges with ditches and big horses suit this down to the ground. There are a few tall/heavy men that hunt with us that won't consider anything under 17.2.

Have just managed to buy my husband a horse (he needs minimum 16.3 but has no upward height limit) but otherwise i'd have loved to know more about the horse.

ok folks... I am getting digi pics taken on Saturday unless it is pouring with rain. So please pm me if you are interested. I don't think we have the technology to do a digi video yet... but will ask!

He had a full 5 stage vetting last year, which he passed, and which is available. He is sound and ready for work, just as the owner has 3 small children, he is wasted where he is.

Definatly a call for the big horses as hunters, OH has just bought a horse that has done 8 seasons, out once sometimes twice a week, and he is a good 17h.

I would def be interested. Am currently looking for something that big for my partner - he is a reasonable rider - but at 6ft 2" - needs something that big.

He wants a good general all rounder to hack, jump, etc etc.

I have a 17.1 Warmblood at home - and have ridden and had horses for some 25 years - so could provide a 5 star home. Really struggling to find something. But don't have a huge budget.

Please, please get in touch. :)

My friend has a 9yr old 17.1 or 17.2 irish hunter. Jumps anything, ditches, hedges, timber etc. Real comfy horse to ride, has paces you could sit to all day. If any one is interested let me know. She is selling him as she doesn't have the money to keep him any more.
