hi i am looking to share my very lovely TB, i am looking for someone ride him when they want, compete if they want, very relaxed arrangement. i am still happy to turn him out and get him in daily, is there such a person around or am i just dreaming??

They are out there, and you could start with an ad in your local feed store/saddlery. Be very clear though about who has the final say on what happens regarding differing views on feed/schooling/rugging and any activity that you are not happy about your horse taking part in (obviously you have the final say but that needs to be clear)
Be sure to ask for a contribution to keep too, it can be as small or large as you like, but does then require some commitment from your sharer

god i wish you were more local to me......

i would love that!

I ride a horse at the weekends (no-one else rides her though but she is an oldie so doesn't need it).
I hack her out, take her to shows and lessons and I pay for her shoes, vaccs and insurance

yes, my friend has a sharer for her mare, she can do what she wants with the horse and she pays half the livery (it's on full livery) and half the shoes, however the vets fees and insurance are paid by my friend. Obviously she has a say in feeding and the appearance of the horse (not to hog it etc.) but other than that she stays out of the way. the only problem is that sometimes she will ride the same day as the sharer so the horse gets double the work and also the owner will let others ride (ie. friends) but that is something that has to be agreed on when you arrange the contract. Hope that helps - it seems to work really well but then the sharer will always think of you as the 'owner' so should have enough respect to communicate with you if there are any problems.

I have someone to who shares my horse. I let her pretty much do what she wants, although they always ask first anyway. Like Lochpearl says, sometimes one of my friends will ride, but, I always give my sharer notice, and am more than happy for the horse to go out twice.

watch very carefully what way you go about finding a sharer!!

im pregnant and have a sharer for my pony, she gets to do all the riding but my pony went the whole of last week without a saddle near him until i got one of the kids at the yard to take him out for me, iv not had payment of livery from her this week and no reason as to why the pony has been left standing, she knows and was warned that if she leaves him to long then he'l be a nutter to sit on! suppose i should just leave it up to her as she is the main rider and has to deal with his bad behaviour but its not nice knowing my pony hasnt done anything except a few walks with me for 7 days!
