We have really bad neighbours who just will not look after animals, they really get to me and I'm now getting to my wits ends. They have always been like it. The RSPCA have been in there quite a few times for different animals over the years and I rung them after the big bird avery they had in there garden haven't been touched for weeks, no water or food and the birds would hold their wings out to catch the drops off rain to drink. When they turned up I thought they would do something as there was dead birds on the floor and the grass was so long they couldn't even open the door to get in. Nothing was done and all birds died. They have 4 massive dogs with ribs sticking out and matted coats but you don't often see them as they are never taken for walks but it's the cats that are the issue, they have had several cats in the past which have all died and the cpl has castrated a lot off cats for them and cleared them up with homing them but last year they went and brought 4 kittens all off which has had kittens and the whole neighbourhood is over run with cats, a lot off people are feeding them but you can't open a window or a door without being over run and they won't castrate iv spoke to them. So next year there is going to be 5 breeding females and it don't take a lot off working out to the amount off cats that are gona be around. I watched 3 this morning fighting and tearing open a tea bag and eat it they were that hungry. Any ideas what to do? The cpl have tried yet again but they won't castrate any. HELP I love cats but it's a nightmare

I have tried the cpl but there's nothing they can do,, they have spoke to them but no joy and the fact that most off the neighbourhood feed them means they don't look to bad but good god the fleas!! Iv got my cats and 1 off there's has sneaked in and we have taken him on and he never leaves our house now so I'm going to pay to castrate him and they haven't missed him but there's kittens everywhere. The cpl can't just take them and RSPCA are crap so don't know what to do. It's people like them that needs castrating themselves to start with.

Maybe try the blue cross? Not sure what they can do with regards to the animals, but even if they can't do anything themselves, they might be able to point you in the direction of people who can.

As its a council house that would be a good place to try, some will have restrictions on pets and the cats are becoming a nuisance and "health hazard" if all the neighbours get together the council may take action.

Try the council dog warden for the dogs and approach the council anyway for the rest of the animals, it might help. If the council won't do anything threaten to get the papers involved to shame the council and you are right rspca are rubbish I have reported numerous animals that needed help and they didn't help all but one case(2 dogs but they died anyway)

def sounds like the best idea will be to go down the council route, either as they might be landlords or if not, they can approach it from a nuisance perspective. Normally I dislike the idea of interfering but in this case it sounds like it would be absolutely the right thing to do, for them and the animals since they are clearly not looking after the animals they have properly and the animals are suffering.

I really feel for you, it must be awful to be living with it. but well done for caring!

From your description, you might try working the public health hazard angle and call the council's environmental health officer - although they may just refer to animal welfare.

Call the RSPCA and voice your complaints and tell them that as they are proving useless, you are going to get the press involved - there is cruelty going on and better if you can get pictures to prove it.

It is about time the general public learned how useless the RSPCA are.

The council should be informed but doubt they will do much.

Im in a council house and I HAD to have permission to keep pets.
Go to the council,ASK TO SEE the local housing officer for your area, tell him/her whats going on and phone the RSPCA again and tell them theres a cruelty case.Phone the main number.
If no joy,go write to that TV show " My Britain or whatever its called" ( on ITV 1).They deal with whats bothering you most.
Council would be 1st port of call.
