know anything about a grey horse I used to own years ago. He was quite light weight, freezemarked 635G. I sold him to a girl and her boyfriend on the Derbyshire side of Sheffield. He was called Silcas with us but I believe they used to call him Silky. I believe they sold him to a doctor's daughter to jump. He was literally my first love, I bought him wild from Ilkley and he grew into a lovely person, had to sell when my boyfriend and i bought a house and couldn;t afford to keep him, gutted to sell him. He would be about 32 now!

There is indeed (thanks to my old friend and riding buddy Nou). I am the doctor's daughter, and had Silky until 1989 when I (well my parents) sold him to a lady in Cheshire whom later retired to France and took him with her. He was put down at the end of 2004 in France, but I did see him for a while in 2003 when I kept an eye on him in Southampton which is where I ended up living whilst she sorted the arrangements moving him and his companion Shetland to France. Will be in touch on Facebook! :D

Hi, hope you won't mind me leaving a short message to say it sounds great that you have found the person who had your horse for a time and how nice that they replied and let you know that he went to good homes and what happened to him, especially given he was sold in 1989 by a subsequent owner.

It shows how successful the forum is at connecting the horsey world. I hope to put up a thread soon about my chestnut gelding who would be too old to be alive now (about 40 ish today) but we lost in 1981 as he was devastatingly stolen (aged about 12 at the time) and we could never find him back in the 80s. I would like to see if anyone horsey around in the 1980s might have seen or known him. I don't think it's impossible to find subsequent owners going back over the years, it can just be down to luck if they or their friends happen to see the details on the forum, so I'm hoping for some luck!

Well done again and it must be reassuring to find this out about your horse.

We've had a lovely few weeks catching up on FB and sharing photos and memories and it has been great to know that Silcas or Wilf as we called him had such lovely subsequent owners and nice to know that he was loved and cared for till the end. It has been quite emotional for me but has answered a lot of questions - I never forgot him as he had a special place in my heart, he was a wild, scared baby when I bought him and he went on to give some special people some fantastic memories. Thank you all.
