Friend is selling the following, is there anything else you think prosective buyers would need to know?

STUNNING 2 YEAR OLD

MickeyForSalePic1.jpg

Mickey 2 year old coloured gelding. Welsh X TB. Correct conformation and movement. Well handled since birth. Good to catch, load, and with farrier.

Has been regularly wormed, is passported and fully vaccinated. Eligible CHAPS registration. Very mature, could start some in hand work now.

To make 15hh-15.2hh, really nice prospect for the future. £2000 ono.

Phone .....

Possibility of him staying at current turn out until ready for backing next year. Good rates.

Is there anything else that should be added??? Thanks

His actual breeding would be nice.

Can you see his dam there? That would be nice. Was he homebred? Say so if he was

I would photograph him as if he is going into an in-hand class, so clean, trimmed, plaited, bitted and standing up square and level- it will make a huge difference. Pics of the dam and sire are always good, or at least their details, to give an indication of the final outlook.
A picture of him moving would be a bonus

Will find out about his breeding and add, thank you. Yes he was home bred.

Remove 'stunning' as he's not really...'attractive', perhaps?
Remove 'could start in hand work' - as that reads 'feral at the moment, does not lead in hand'
Tidy him up - pull mane, tidy tail, stand up correctly for conformation shot, get a better picture of his head.
Give more detail regarding breeding - who was the sire, what did he produce? And the dam?
Suggest future uses - e.g. 'would make great riding club horse for mother/daughter', etc.

Would add re breeding what sire/dam have done competition wise. Agree photo needs to show him standing square and I too think price is a bit ambitious.

I would be put off as in theory as Welsh x TB cannot be coloured as neither have coloured genes unless you used the only coloured TB stallion, in which case say so.

I quite like him, If I had the money, i would make an offer on him, but agree he needs a tidy up and more info about what he has done (ie leads, loads, feet trimed etc) and def include his breeding esp as he was home bred.

I think he looks a nice sort, and people out there do enquire about horses that are 'natural' in their pictures.

I think some of you are quite harsh with what you have said.

A decent picture and removal of the word stunning!

But that is just me, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I think you're right - and people are very happy to see horses advertised in their natural state. I don't see any reason to trim this little horse up at all.

However, why would you not make the effort to at least stand the horse up properly for a decent photo to be taken??

We see people posting on here time and again about the problems they are having selling their horses, ponies etc. And they have gone to massive lengths to do the best adverts they can. And in most cases those adverts are really well done. So how can you hope to sell something without a reasonable photo?? Beats me.

And as for the word stunning - my implication was not that the horse was not attractive - it very obviously is. But how many times do you see the word 'stunning' used in an advert?? It's soo cliche, boring and unimaginative.

Present the horse well, write a decent add, and hopefully it will sell itself.

For the record - I think it's a lovely young horse.

Well I think he's nice and I think £2000 is reasonable. I agree that mentioning names from his breeding makes the ad more interesting. The photo could be better in terms of seeing his head too. He's quite a striking little chap
