Is there anywhere you can trial/hire sprenger system 4 stirrups?

As the title really, I was just wondering if there's anywhere that let's you try sprenger stirrups before you buy (much in the same way you can trial micklem bridles before committing to buy)?

I'm pretty certain I'm going to buy a pair but at that price I'd quite like to try them out first and make sure I like them.

I was wondering this, too. With back and foot trouble, I'm interested in them, but also worried that some people find them less stable in the event of a stumble or spook.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I love the sound of them and think they'd help with my ankle problems but ponio can be rather spooky at times so don't want something that'll make it harder to stay on.

Not sure if you can hire them, but thought I'd let you know that I love mine. I usually suffer with stiff ankles and knees with traditional stirrup irons, but I don't with these. I have the system 4 ones, and they are a god send. Have a look on eBay, as they turn up on there occasionally. That's where I got mine from and paid £88 for them and they've only been used twice. I like them as they flex which ever way I do. Can remember them feeling strange and bouncy when I first used them but they're great now. :)
Also, my boy quite spooky and never had a problem! X

Thanks PWH. That's good to know. I've been keeping my eye on eBay but being the skeptical sort I'd rather buy them from a official stockist if I can x

I love mine. Felt bouncy to begin with, but feel normal now. I used to get a lot of pain in knees and ankles but don't suffer any more.

I can't ride in anything but. I have to take them with me if I may be riding a horse as I would be in agony with my knee and ankle if I didn't. Never noticed any difference though to traditional irons in relation to bounce.

Mulledwhine - my understanding is they absorb the tension that your lower back, knee and hips usually absorb thus taking pressure off your joints but someone else may be able to provide a more technical answer :)

Yes, you're right. They have shock absorbers basically. If you have ever driven a car where the shocks have been removed you will know that shocks make a massive difference!

No difference with spooks etc guys. Just much more gentle on my knees on long hacks :)

Thanks Billie1007 that's really good to know. I panicked a bit when I read on one of the other threads how someone's friend refuses to use them anymore as they attributed them to some nasty falls when their horse spooked which is why I was so keen to try before I bought them.

Now just got to hope a pair of 4.5" ones come up on eBay :D

The Saddlery Shop used to hire

Honestly till you have them and then ride in ordinary stirrups you will notice the difference they make!
