Just for fun...

wondered how many of you out there bought a horse knowing that it wasn't 100% right for you?

What kind of things did you have to work on?

How long did it take?

Did you get the perfect horse in the end?

mine way perfect in terms of how she acts and what she knows

i wish she was 5 years younger as she is 14 but then she wouldnt know as much.

she is damn perfect tho

Erm, if buying a very poor, crib biting horse with rainrash, mudrash and terrible feet counts then yes I bought one that wasn't right, he's perfect now he's got weight, fitness and trust :) though he'd probably not be 90% of peoples cup of tea......he's mine down to the number of tealeaves ;)

It took 3 months for the weight to be ok, still just finishing off (lacks topline on neck still but is at least twice as thick as when he came a year ago.

He was sweet but didn't trust people entirely so when he was scared there was no talking to him. He hates hacking and naps like crazy - he's dangerous on a road. though after 6 months he's be ok but you couldn't trust him at all. (wasn't scared of traffic - his own shadow, leaves, gates etc and sometimes pure 'I don't want to do this so I'll have a tantrum') I hate hacking anyway so I don't go often but he'll tolerate it now and again. He can do some impressive, plant feet, leap, spin, buck things but weird as it sounds - I dont think he's trying to throw you, just objecting. Like arguing with a 5yo lol.

It took a couple of months to get him going out unaff and jumping tracks without napping - I had a video of me doing a clear round - 4mins 58 secs :o oops :p and 5 months for his first BSJA win - where he delighted us all by winning both British Novice and Discovery. It was hard work and he was going out once/twice a week (shows).
