as a special mix for fussy eaters?

My mare(as some of you may know due to other posts i have put up) has turned out to be a fussy eater for some god damned reason(probably to pi55 me off). I have tried everything from honey, treacle and grated carrots etc in feed But still nothing. She will pick at it and gets all excited when it comes but then is like really let down or something as if to say ugh what is this. I havent changed any thing but i cant afford to keep buying different stuff and then her not eating it. Im also going to try a different sugar beet just now im using speedi-beet.

So does any of you wonderful people out there know if there is such a thing as a mix for fussy eaters?

Try feeding it in a different way?

When Dizz was on box rest, I'd put different parts of her feed in different buckets around her stable. Also put some down direct on the floor/ground. This seemed to get her interest more than it did when it was served up normally!

.

I'm guessing you've done teeth, etc....

How much is she getting in each feed? May be worth feeding her 3 times a day and spreading it out? I know a few fussy horses who love showmix but depends on whether she'd put on too much weight on it....

One of ours is a really fussy and slow eater, he also likes to dump it on the floor

- we've found adding fenugreek to his feed works really well, and you can always buy a small amount first to try it.

maybe she is not too fussed on the chaff, I use apple chaff or chery chaff, and just use a small bit, my mare gets excited at feed time but if I accidently put in too much chaff she just kicks the bucket over as it takes too long to chew it so wont eat it, stupid mare, I have to take it out and make up another one.

i like the idea of different feed buckets around stable.

some people use mint for fussy feeders (i have loads in my dads garden so used to feed fresh.

what did the previous owners feed?

Is she getting as much haylage as she can eat? if not, I would ensure she is getting add lib and honestly wouldn't worry too much about hard feed.

As she was imported she may not be accustomed to fancy feeds and making changes to her diet probably wont help get her used to eating hard feed. Have you tried just a small ammount of mix in a bucket with nothing else added? then gradually, as she accepts that, add the other elements in small amounts...

Yes she is getting good amounts of haylage.
She has only been off her feed for about a week. I wonder if she is going to be the type of horse that gets fed up of hard feed?
Have ordered some fenugreek seeds and garlic granules see how she goes with that.

Its just annoying as she doesnt need the vet or anything but eventually im going to have to get her to eat as she has lost a tiny bit of weight.
I was thinking about this soaked oat diet?
