Is this a dominance thing or wanting to be close?

We rehomed a gorgeous Jack Russell about 2 and half weeks ago. He is an absolute poppet but insists on sitting on my other dog. So do you think this is an insecurity or a dominance thing?

Our Lab seems to be higher in the pack then our Jack Russell, as our Lab will put him in his place with a growl when he has had enough. However our Lab doesn’t seem to mind him sitting on him. Never seen this behaviour before.

OMG my 6 month old weimy bitch (Lexi) does this to my adult weimy bitch (Millie), and Millie is the boss, but Lexi does try to be top dog and gets put in her place quite quickly.

So to be honest i think it is a way for the smaller dog to say i am the boss here pal!!!

Ahh he looks lovely! My friends JRT sits on her Retriever all the time. Strangely the retriever isn't keen on other dogs, but the JRT was a rescued pup and he accepted him from the beginning. (He also stands on him in the kitchen now he is fully grown and attempts to steal anything that catches his eye off the side)

My Jack does this to my Rottie....or he sits on your feet. I have put it down to my Jack not wanting to get a cold bottom.

Our 9month old lab puppy often lies on our older lab. She just resigns herself to it and lies there! Thing is, big lab is often lying against me and then little lab piles on too!

Or now that she is getting bigger she just lays her paws over big labs paws instead.

I must say JoBo, that lab is beautiful! Lovely shiny coat and nice eyes, absolutely stunning! The JRT looks like a cheeky wee thing! (but don't all JRTs
