I have noticed the frog on my horses foot changing over the last 3-4 days. It is just one hoof, it smells slightly and has a white fluffy appearance.

The field is wetter than usual, am thinking of moving him to the higher field especially if this is caused by the wet.

I have washed it in antiseptic and dried it thoroughly (after I took photo!!) Although this won't do that much good as he is still in field.

Does an infection like this require a vet or can I treat with antifungal cream and cleaning?

Thanks

You dont need a vet to treat thrush its easy and cheap to treat with the conditions your describing and the smell it sounds like thrush. My mare had it the other week first time for her and same as you was due to how wet the field was.

My farrier suggests surgical spirt or hydrogen peroxide 3 per cent to treat easy to get hold of any chemist etc can get it from. Pick the hoof out and with a syringe with it in squirt into the frog area. Should clear it up in a few days.
