Is this a one week wonder or will I be able to keep this schedule up?

Right quick story - have 3 horses on DIY, and a full time job. Some how this week I have managed to ride one of mine at 6am for a hard 30 mins schooling session, ride a 2nd one every night at 5.30pm for a good 30 mins schooling, I have managed to squeeze in 2 lessons and have done all my horses and catch in and hay and feed 2 of my friends.

I have not been late for work, but have left the turn out rugs on - if dry at night on the ones i am working. My 3rd horse who is semi retired has had the week off - but i have changed her rugs.

The only person suffering is my poor hubby as when the alarm goes off at 5.05am I always have to have a cuddle before I leave the nice warm bed for a freezing cold stable yard.

Now will i manage to keep this routine up? I work 8am until 4.30pm

very impressive. last week I tried new routine of getting up earlier. By wednesday I was dead as wasn't going to bed any earlier and then came down with a cold proving early mornings are just unhealthy!!!

Both of the in work horses are fully clipped. The morning one - is walked down the track and back (about a mile) and then is turned out - if he is too hot he will be left with a cooler on whilst i turn the others out.

The one at night - is walked round the yard and up through the barn - its too dark to go down the track. He gets the better end of the deal as he can have his tea an hour after he has cooled whereas the poor one in the morning only gets a pitifull amount to eat pre excercise- and by pitiful i mean a carrot, a handfull of good doer - just so he thinks he has had breakfast.

Its the kind of schedule that i follow when the clocks first change for a few wks and then just before they change back again for a few wks, can't do it in between thou for the simple reason of having no school to work in so too dark to ride safely.

Slightly later routine of up and out riding (hacking 2) by 6.15am, back and to work for 9.30am, finish at 4.30pm and back to sort them out x 3, so 2 get exercised every morning for those wks and i just swap them around, all 3 are in full ridden work.

Hard work for a few wks but so worth it for the extra fitness they retain over some of the winter and so much easier to pick the fitness back up before the first proper shows in April.
Just wish i could do it right thru winter but morning light dictates it for me, just a couple more wks and i'll be back out on them a few mornings a wk.

yes you'll be fine!

I get up at 5am, muck out/turn out 2 horses, back home to get changed and then travel to work for 8.30am (it takes me about 45 mins to get to work)- i then teach full time 8.30-4pm (in a college, non horsey

)...back home- walk the dogs, ride two horses, do jobs and usually home for about 8.30 to 9pm and then maybe some marking to do

i do, however, get a rest in school hols

You will probably be fine - if OH can cope too! I work full time but only have one to do...I too get up at 5am all year round and in the summer months I go straight out for half an hours hack (no school) and get home and ready to leave work for 7.30am. Granted my horse does live out 24/7 and I get back home in the evening a lot earlier than you do...usually home from work for 6pm and then go straight out to check and feed my lad and be back home by 7pm for tea etc.
It is very tiring and you will have to be going to bed at a reasonable time or it will catch up on you...you will also find you are in great need for your hols when they come round!
