I am looking to buy a horse for my teenage daughter. Needs to be a safe all-rounder with nice paces for dressage. 15-15.2hh. Looking for something young that has been started well, that she can progress with, but we're not expecting it to have done much competing wise. Would be nice to find something she can do some very low level competing (dr and sj) over the summer but she is fully prepared to put in a years prep to have something she can take out more next year.
We'd prefer a hardy type but will consider anything (although pref not full TB or heavy cob, but anything inbetween). We were thinking either irish sports type or welsh d x might fit the bill, but happy to look at anything suitable.
Budget is £3000.
We've spent 3 solid days trawling the ads and there really is very little that we like enough to find out more about in our area. Seems to be more in Yorkshire and Cheshire and while I haven't ruled out travelling further, I would prefer more local so that we can take our instructor along for any second viewings. For now, I'm looking at about 100 mile radius.
We've only loaned up til now, this is our first potential purchase, so it's all a bit new to us!
Is this a realistic budget for what we are looking for?
