This winter I am planning on feeding ad lib haylage, equimins advance, micronised linseed and speedibeet plus 4 hours turn out daily.
Horse is 13yo, a fairly good doer in light work.
I just wondered if there was anything I'm overlooking.

Depends - on protein levels in haylage and the others, any mineral deficiencies in need of rectifying. And salt (not a lick, their tongues aren't rough enough to get adequate into their diet)

I'm another one who adds salt to feed. I tend to find ad lib haylage can make horses quite porky if they're in light work so you might find you can drop the linseed.

Sounds like a good diet to me, I would also add salt, about 10 grams a day for 550 kilo :) Mine are on similar and looking good but they are in full work so Linseed really good for keeping weight on :)

What haylage?

I find haylage made of ryegrass far too sugary and bad for feet. I have timothy haylage which I feed ad lib and they only take what they need instead of gorging on it like a bag of sweeties. I have persuaded a friend to swap to it and one of her horses who has never been completely sound on stones suddenly is.

Anyone in Cheshire, Roger Nicholas is selling three bale sizes of timothy haylage at a sensible price.

Haylage is part of the livery deal, we are not allowed to bring anything else on.
It is ryegrass but we have the choice of first or second cut. I can never remember which is which though! I know the one that is for those in lighter work is always on the right hand side so he always has that one. He only gets the left hand side one as a mix if I want him to gain weight.
