Just out of intrest do any others find this quote, taken from this forum exceptable....or is just me.
Dogs dont chase badgers they fight badgers, this I believe cant be accidental and is illegal.

They have the free run of my farm.

PS they've chased foxes badgers and hares too.

What is the problem with that?

*whispers* "acceptable"
Yes my dog chases rabbits, hares and occasionally foxes if she can but she never catches them.
As far as I know she has not chased a badger but they are nocturnal and shy. She has looked down a badger set but not gone in.
Dogs will always chase rabbits etc off the lead unless called back. Mine know not to chase cats etc but in the fields and at the yard yes they do chase small wild mammals.
Is that a problem?

My dog chases things as well unless called back, but badgers dont run like rabbits and cats so they wont escape or try to. If your saying your dog chases badgers (not you) then you have encouraged it to do so or not stopped it.
I just dont like to think people on this forum are into that sort of thing. I would have thought there was an underground forum for them somewhere.

No I see what you mean. Badgers don't come out in the day anyway and I would have thought that they would retreat from dogs back to their sets at night as they are nervous. I know they can be fierce in their defence of their sets if a dog goes in so yes, I can see that you may have to "train" a dog to attack a badger.
I don't think anyone on here advocates badger baiting, I would be very surprised if they did, regardless of the legality it is cruel to dogs and badgers.
